Sandoval Lake Tour Tambopata: 4-Day Complete Amazon Adventure

Your adventure through the Madre de Dios begins with a personalized greeting in Puerto Maldonado. Our team will transfer you to the port to board a motorized boat that will take us downstream to Monte Amazónico Lodge. During the journey along the imposing river, you will observe exotic birds and seemingly endless jungle vegetation. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a refreshing regional fruit nectar and a typical welcome lunch featuring fresh local ingredients. In the afternoon, we will visit the famous Monkey Island, home to charismatic species such as the spider monkey and the capuchin monkey. At nightfall, we will begin the exciting Night Safari by boat with powerful spotlights along the riverbanks, one of the most striking activities on the itinerary. In this nocturnal search, it is possible to spot white and black caimans of various sizes, as well as the capybara, the world's largest rodent, resting on the shore. The day concludes with a traditional dinner and your first night in the heart of the Amazon.

The second day of this expedition starts with the sounds of the jungle waking up in a natural symphony. After a nutritious breakfast, we will take a 3 km hike through dense vegetation trails until we reach the majestic Sandoval Lake, located within the protected area of the National Reserve. Once there, we will board a traditional rowboat to glide silently over the mirrored waters, allowing us to observe birds such as macaws, toucans, and hoatzins, as well as the elusive giant river otters. After a typical lunch served in front of the lake, we will return to the lodge for a brief rest. At dusk, we will explore the deep jungle on a guided Night Walk led by experts. In this sensory experience, you will discover the most mysterious side of the ecosystem: giant insects, fluorescent-colored frogs, and creatures that only emerge when absolute darkness envelops the ancient trees. We will dine at the lodge before enjoying our second night of restful stay.

We will begin the third day with an adrenaline-filled walk through the elevated Canopy Walk walkways, located more than 30 meters above the ground. From this privileged vantage point, you can observe toucans and macaws in full morning activity. Then, we will feel the speed on the Zipline, sliding between the treetops under the supervision of certified instructors. After lunch, we will practice Traditional Fishing in the river, learning traditional methods from local communities. To close the day, we will go on a Kayak journey, navigating the waters while enjoying an unparalleled Amazonian sunset. This combination of activities turns this program into a dynamic and exciting experience that satisfies both cultural curiosity and the adventurous spirit.

On the final morning, we will enjoy a farewell breakfast at the lodge. It is the perfect moment to capture the last photos of the local flora and listen one last time to the jungle orchestra. We will board the boat back to the city, where our transport will take you punctually to the airport or bus terminal for your next destination, leaving the tropical forest behind but taking with you a deep connection with nature and indelible memories of this journey.
