The Guardian’s Path: Welcome to the Salkantay Trek

Are you looking for a route that challenges your senses and lifts your spirit? The Salkantay Trek is world-renowned as one of the best alternative hikes to Machu Picchu. This journey is more than just a physical challenge; it is a trip through breathtaking geographical contrasts. You will transition from the intense cold of the glaciers to the vibrant heat of the high jungle in a matter of hours.
Unlike other crowded routes, Salkantay offers an intimate connection with wild nature. You will hike under the gaze of the towering Apu Salkantay, the protector of the region. Get ready to discover turquoise lagoons, cloud forests, and the warmth of local communities before crowning your achievement at the sacred citadel of the Incas.

Day 1: Cusco – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake

  • Early Start: We depart from your hotel in Cusco toward Mollepata via private transportation, traveling through the picturesque Limatambo Valley.
  • Soraypampa: We begin the hike toward the stunning Humantay Lake. This body of water is fed directly by the mountain's glaciers.
  • Spectacular Views: During the 4-hour hike, we will enjoy viewpoints such as Cruzpata and Sayllapata. You can freshen up in the crystal-clear waters if you’re feeling brave.
  • Rest: We will have dinner at the Lodge del Cielo campsite under the Andean sky.

Day 2: Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Collpapampa

Day 3: Collpapampa – Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes

  • Entering the Jungle: We will hike through the Santa Teresa River valley. You will see coffee, banana, passion fruit, and avocado plantations.
